Liquor tasting rooms are called bars

Jan 14, 2013 - 05:18 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

I wonder if I’m the only person in the Valley who felt instant alarm when seeing the headlines on Tuesday, Jan. 8? “Craft distillers push for tasting rooms.”

Sonoma Valley is awash in wine and has been now for many years. We are all totally surrounded by the vineyards, there is a tasting room on nearly every downtown street corner, not to mention wine is the focus of most fundraisers.

Now the new hard liquor industry wants to open their own tasting rooms which, if I’m not mistaken, they already have – they’re called bars.

Let’s not support yet another source of inebriation.

You can’t go onto the highways at any time of the day without meeting a swerving, drifting or creeping driver as it is.

I am definitely a mother and grandmother against drunk drivers. Let’s not make it even easier to add to their numbers.
