She was a longtime resident of Sonoma.??Jackie was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Hawthorne. She attended college at St. Mary’s College of California and received a degree in nursing. She married Fred Gomez of San Francisco in 1950 and they subsequently moved to Sonoma and had four children, Fred Gomez, of Pleasant Hill; Ronnie Gomez, of Sonoma; Yvonne Gomez-Shelton, of Sonoma; and Bob Gomez, of Sonoma, who all survive her. Jackie’s grandchildren cherished her love and attention that she more than amply supplied.

Jackie spent much of her nursing career working in the intensive care unit at Sonoma Valley Hospital in Sonoma. In addition to her professional delivery, Jackie’s patients were treated to her special brand of warmth and caring at a time when they needed it most.

Her last years of living were spent at the Country Villa Nursing Home in San Rafael, where she charmed the staff and other residents with her outgoing personality and witty sense of humor.

Jackie will be remembered by those close to her as someone who always gave more than she received, found the silver lining in tough times, and most all, shared her special gift of warmth with all who crossed her path.
