Feb 7, 2013 - 04:03 PM

The internationally acclaimed Italian Saxophone Quartet will make its debut in Sonoma on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. at Vintage House, 264 First St. E., in a concert sponsored by the Sonoma Classical Music Society. The gala kicks off the society’s 2013 spring season, with wine and hors d’oeuvres served at 6 p.m.

The quartet will present an eclectic program entitled “Europe Meets the Americas,” with music ranging from Bach and Scarlatti through Samuel Barber, George Gershwin, Astor Piazzolla, Nino Rota and more. The group has performed more than 500 concerts across the globe in its 30 years, and have won competitions in that time.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for members of the society, and $10 for students. Tickets are on sale at Readers’ Books and Pharmaca, online at sonomaclassical.org or at the door.

The next concert in the spring series will be Saturday, March 16, at 3 p.m. when the Trio Con Brio Copenhagen returns to Sonoma for a concert at Trinity Episcopal Church in Sonoma.
