Hotel not out of place

Jan 17, 2013 - 06:42 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

In response to Georgia Kelly’s Jan. 15 letter (“Hotel does not belong on the Plaza”), I made my positive conclusions after two meetings, and after much research about the Chateau Sonoma hotel project.  Darius Anderson did nothing to change my mind except to answer all my questions honestly and objectively. He showed me an actual model of the project, which is since being revised further. Just seeing how the hotel will be located made a big difference to me.

Please read architect Michael Ross’s Op-Ed article, “New hotel fits general plan, EIR will address traffic,” (Index-Tribune, Jan. 15), which is in-depth and will answer many questions and criticisms that are flying around town.

Someone mentioned to me, one day, that we should be mindful that Sonoma is a tourist destination and that pedestrian traffic goes along with it. If we didn’t have tourists, what would we then do to bring in revenue? We should be out there welcoming them, the majority are having fun and loving the visit.
