Henry (Cass) Casaburi

Cass passed away Feb. 5, 2013, at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, of Alzheimer’s disease. Cass was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Tampa, Fla.

He moved to San Francisco as a young man to live with his father and worked as an appliance distributor manager in South San Francisco.

Cass loved bowling and met his wife, Marlene, at a bowling tournament. It was love at first sight. Cass and Marlene were married on July 23, 1972, in Las Vegas and spent their honeymoon in Yosemite where Cass promised there were no bears only to be confronted with one at their campsite.

Cass and Marlene moved to Santa Rosa where Cass worked for Friedman Brothers as a truck driver. After leaving Friedman’s, he went to work for Yaeger & Kirk in Santa Rosa until the company closed, at which time he and Marlene moved to Sonoma and Cass returned to work at Friedman Brothers in Sonoma. He retired from Friedman’s in 2006.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Marlene, of more than 40 years; daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Luke Rainville, of St. Helena; daughter, Cindy Casaburi and granddaughter, Sophia, of Washington state; his sister, Katherine, and her husband, Wayne Wright, of Covington, Ga. Cass also leaves two half-brothers, Victor Chamoun and Michael Chamoun, of Florida. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; son, Henry; and half-brother, Evan Chamoun.

His cremation was private and his ashes will be scattered in the ocean. A celebration of his life will be held on April 6, 2013, at the Seven Flags Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 300 International Blvd., Sonoma, noon to 3 p.m. Food and beverages will be served.

In lieu of flowers, donations  in Cass’s name may be made to Pets Lifeline, 19686 Eighth St. E., Sonoma, CA 95476.
