In only its second year of existence, Archbishop Hanna High School’s wrestling team had four grapplers qualify and compete in the weekend’s prestigious North Coast Section championships at Newark Memorial High School.

The Hanna Hawks’ grappling quartet, coached by David Montano, included seniors Mario Harris and Adam Colon, sophomore Alex Garcia and freshman Jose Alvarez-Mendoza.

Harris, a team co-captain who won three NCS matches last year, added four more victories, with only two losses, the final one by a close decision in the heavyweight eighth-place match, which denied him a rare sectional medal.

Co-captain Colon finished with a 1-2 record at 195 pounds, while both Garcia and Alvarez-Mendoza had 1-2 marks with a pin each at 120 and 108, respectively.
