SONOMA VALLEY HIGH School’s 2013 Dragon Hall of Fame takes place on Saturday, May 11, on Hanna Boys Center’s Arnold Drive campus, and tickets for the annual event are currently on sale. To order tickets, mail a check – indicating how many of each type of ticket requested – with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Dragon Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 1524, Sonoma, CA 95476. SONOMA RACEWAY’S POPULAR “Drag and Drift” program, which includes both the Wednesday Night Drags and the motorsport of drifting, has begun its 25th season in the Valley and will be held every Wednesday evening through Nov. 13. Also, ticket packages for Sonoma Raceway’s 2013 Big O Tires racing season are currently available for purchase, with the best ticket package again being the Track Pass. SONOMA VALLEY HIGH School senior baseball players Jonah Son and Brennan Cole have combined their senior project efforts into a one-day home run derby event for all ages taking place on Saturday, March 30, at Arnold Field – funds raised go to improvements and restoration of Arnold Field, and for the Dragons’ baseball program. Ages 6-to-12-years-old will attempt to homer out of the infield from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; ages 13-to-18 make their home-run attempts from 3 to 5 p.m.; and ages 18-and-over will swing away from 5 to 8 p.m. (under the lights). The cost is $5 for eight swings (6-to-18-year-olds) and $10 for 10 swings (18-years-old-and-over), and the fundraising event will also include prizes, a raffle and a barbecue. BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS Sonoma Valley will hold two sign-up sessions for girls’ volleyball in grades three through eight at the Maxwell Clubhouse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, March 23 and April 6. The season runs from mid-May to mid-July, with two leagues – third-through-fifth-grades and sixth-through-eighth-grades.
