Gornick named principal at Sassarini

Interim Sassarini Elementary School principal Kristin Gornick has been named principal at the school.

Gornick has been serving as interim principal since October 2012. Sassarini Principal Leticia Bhatia told school staff Friday that she will not be returning to Sonoma Valley next year, as she will be working closer to her home in Millbrae and spending more time with her baby, Amadeo.

Gornick graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles and earned her master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She began her career as an English teacher and then assumed various roles in school leadership as an assistant principal and principal at the middle school level in school communities very similar to Sassarini.

School Superintendent Louann Carlomagno said, “We wish Lety well and thank her for her years of service in Sonoma Valley – she will be missed. We are thrilled to have a professional of Kris’ caliber on our education team in the Valley. She is an excellent addition to the team of learning professionals at Sassarini School.”
