Good luck with the General Plan
Editor, Index-Tribune:
In response to Will Shonbrun’s Valley Forum piece (“A sense of place,” Jan. 8), if you think that there is any chance that the Planning Commission will abide by the guidelines of the 2020 General Plan you are in for a big surprise. For example, the 2020 General Plan spells out that use of the Broadway corridor specifically should not include a “tavern” and yet a permit was granted for a tavern. A large group of us in the neighborhood protested and pointed out to the Planning Commission what was in writing and we were totally ignored. It was as if they considered themselves above what was written down as to what the city wanted and needed. This is very sad but true.
You could try protesting to the Sonoma County Civil Grand Jury, which I think is the body that oversees government bodies like the Planning Commission. Good luck.
