Going solar

Feb 18, 2013 - 04:41 PM
SolarCraft, the Novato-based solar company, recently donated and installed solar panels at the Sonoma Garden Park, the six-acre working farm given to the City of Sonoma by Pauline Bond and managed by the Sonoma Ecology Center. Top, Peter Heuer installs some hardware while Nick Tognozzi holds the panel steady. The energy generated by the 1.1 Kw solar system will be used to heat the Rotary Greenhouse, where native plants and vegetable starts are grown. The Sonoma Garden Park nursery has capacity for 40,000 plants. Native plants are grown in the nursery and used in local restoration projects. The Sonoma Garden Park is located at 19996 Seventh St. E. in Sonoma.
