Geneva Wren Richards
Geneva Wren Richards passed away peacefully on Jan. 26, 2013, with family members by her side. Geneva will be greatly missed by her friends and family including, Harold Richards, of Sonoma; Amie Richards, of Seattle, Wash.; Betty Welch, of Sonoma; Frieda Mazza, of Kalispell, Mont.; and beloved nieces and nephews. Family who preceded Geneva in passing are remembered – Georgia Bishop, of Billings, Mont.; Amelia Hunt, of Sonoma; and George Hunt, of Sonoma.
A lifelong resident of California, born Dec. 9, 1943, Geneva made Sonoma her home for the majority of her life.
Geneva and Harold met in the 1960s and shared their lives for nearly 50 years; having one daughter. Geneva had a wide range of interests which included student pilot lessons and she accomplished solo flights. She was a professional beautician and co-owned a fitness center and a beauty salon. Geneva loved traveling and often visited the Southwest desert, Pacific Northwest and Reno for some fun gambling with family. She also had memorable vacations to Alaska, Canada, Mexico and Hawaii. Most of all, Geneva enjoyed getting out on the golf course playing with the Adobe Creek Women’s Golf Club and while on vacation scored any golfers dream: a hole-in-one. Later, volunteering with Meals on Wheels was an additional passion of hers. Geneva will be remembered for her love of entertaining, gardening, socializing with dear friends and close family and maintaining a positive attitude with a warm smile even throughout the long illness which took her life.
Private arrangements have been made.
In lieu of flowers, tributes can be made in Geneva’s memory to: Bellevue Botanical Gardens 12001 Main St., Bellevue, WA 98005, 425-452-2750; www.bellevuebotanical.org, a place she visited with her daughter and had fond memories of.

How I miss my sweet friend and walking partner! She was one of the most open and honest people I have ever known. Her wry sense of humor, her quick wit and her spontaneous laughter brought such joy to our daily walks. She elicited surprise by her clever remarks, and reverence by her response to the beauty around her. What a lovely person--so kind, modest and patient. I miss her!
Geneva was my best friend in the 7th & 8th grade. We went to Prestwood Elementary in Sonoma together. I don't remember how I got up to her house way up on that hill where her parents lived but we would sit in her living room and listen to Elvis on her phonograph all night it seemed and eat tuna sandwiches, which she would make a ton of, and of course talk about boys. I'm sure her Mother used to think, now I just bought several cans of tuna, where did it go ? The years went by and I returned to California from Indiana where my husband was from sometime in the mid 60's to visit. It was not long after she married Harold. We had lunch together at her home, and sadly fate never brought us together again. I have never forgotten my dear childhood friend with that great big beautiful smile she had. It hurts to say goodbye but I know she rests in the arms of our Lord. God bless you Geneva.
