Flowery Elementary School has launched a new after-school math program thanks to money raised by its PTO (parent-teacher organization). The program is open to students in grade K–5 and meets three times a week for six weeks for 45 minutes a day. The 100 students who signed up are divided into classrooms by grade, where they play a variety of math games. Said Principal Esmeralda Sanchez, “We were pleased to have the funding to offer this important opportunity for students to develop conceptual understanding and problem solving skills.” Pictured here are fourth-graders, Blanca Sanchez and Christopher Duran, playing a dice game after school.
