Family mini-concert by El Sistema musicians

The El Sistema-inspired youth orchestra, Valley Vibes, launched last month at El Verano Elementary School. More than two-dozen K-5 students meet every day after school for two hours and receive instruction from leader Anne Case and a staff of professional teaching musicians and community volunteers. A mere one week after the program launched, Case organized a mini-concert at El Verano, and the parents in attendance marveled at the tiny musicians. Pictured is El Verano third-grader Luiz Moncada, who smiled from ear to ear throughout the string performance. “I am so proud of how beautifully our orchestra played,” said Case. “Even though parents were told the performance would only last 10 minutes, the El Verano community turned out and showed their support, so the kids excitedly played for a packed house!”
