Dunbar leadership students produce Gazette
Lorna Sheridan/Index-Tribune
The newspaper committee, within Dunbar Elementary School’s 30-student leadership class, produces a school newspaper once a month. Students choose a regular column to write, along with content on sports, comics, school history and events. The resulting publication is read by each class as well as school families. The Gazette was revived this year under the guidance of leadership teachers Brandy Melendy and Wendi Wellander. The Gazette has been a hallowed tradition over the 150 years that Dunbar has been in existence – Dunbar is one of the oldest elementary schools in California.
