Wasting no time in showcasing their team depth and talent in their Saturday night 2013 season opener at Arnold Field, the defending Sonoma County League champion Sonoma Valley High School varsity baseball boys laid a 13-0 licking on longtime nonleague rival and perennial North Coast Section Division-3 power, San Marin.

With almost everyone in the lineup and in reserve contributing to the victory, the Dragons pounded out 15 hits and played solid defense behind junior all-league winning pitcher Jimmy Flatt, who threw a six-inning three-hitter, with six strikeouts and no walks.

Leading Sonoma’s productive offense with multiple-hit games were all-league junior Vincent Albano’s three-for-four, including a double and two RBIs; all-league senior Jonah Son’s two-for-five with three RBIs; all-league junior Dan Deely’s two-for-three, including a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs; and senior Jaxon Strong’s two-for-three.

The Dragons travel to the East Bay for an afternoon nonleague showdown with defending North Coast Section Division-3 champion Acalanes, which beat them in last year’s NCS title game, tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 27.
