On the heels of winning the Sonoma County League dual-match title last Wednesday, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity wrestlers competed in Saturday’s challenging North Coast Section Redwood Empire Duals without a complete lineup, and the result of having to forfeit five weight classes was an early tournament exit. Windsor ended up winning its second straight NCS dual title.

At El Molino High School in Forestville, the Dragons, who toppled defending champion Healdsburg on the road to claim the SCL dual crown with a 6-0 record, were defeated by eventual NCS dual second-place Ukiah in their first match, and were then eliminated from the event by Novato.

Putting the NCS duals behind them, the SCL dual-champion Sonoma grapplers are now focused on making it a league title sweep.

The Dragons return to El Molino to wrestle as the top-seed in the SCL championship tournament starting at 10 a.m. this Saturday, Feb. 16, with the top-three individual medal winners in each
