Clarification on cardio rehab program
Editor, Index-Tribune:
It seems that something was misunderstood by people who read my Valley Forum article on Jan. 4 (“Two large losses at Sonoma Valley Hospital”). I would like to clear one thing up – my main focus is very important for people to know, and appears to have been edited out because of space.
I cast no aspersions on the hospital nor on the people running the program. I understand that an RN must be hands-on to do the cardiac monitoring, and that it is very costly. My concern is that, since the monitoring is no longer available, people in need of same will have to travel to either Napa, Santa Rosa or Marin for this service. This will require the better part of a morning or an afternoon, and securing transportation, at the most vulnerable time in their rehabilitation. I hope this satisfies the possible confusion.
