Checking for heat

Jan 24, 2013 - 07:26 PM
Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue Division Chief John Franceschi checks for heat in the ceiling Monday afternoon in the Index-Tribune offices. At around 3:30 p.m., an I-T employee smelled something burning but couldn’t find the source. The fire department responded and, with its thermal-imaging device, tried to find out if there were hot spots in the walls. After about 45 minutes, a firefighter discovered a piece of insulation in one of the roof-top HVAC units had burned causing the odor.
