Building planting boxes

Milton Mendez, Antonio Orozco and Erik Garcia put together one of 30 4-foot-by-8-foot planting boxes recently at the Larson Park community garden. The planting boxes are made out of IntegraSpec, a green alternative to lumber. The material is from Sonoma Materials, which is also donating time and labor to the project. So far, 19 of the boxes have been leased for $25 a year. In addition, to the in-kind donation from Sonoma Materials, the Todd Trust has donated $35,000 to the project. Gardeners should be able to start planting sometime in 
February.
