Brown, Derwingson honored with Pulse Award

The annual Pulse Award, given each year by the Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation, honors outstanding Sonoma Valley women who have made significant contributions to the community through their volunteerism, community involvement and philanthropy.

This year’s recipients, Valerie Brown and Harriet Derwingson, will be recognized at the eighth annual Celebration of Women luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, at Ramekins Culinary School, Events and Inn.

Celebration of Women is an annual day of recognition and public tribute to honor the Pulse Award recipients in recognition of their outstanding support and service to the community of Sonoma. Past honorees include Julie Atwood, Kathy Benziger, Dr. Judith Bjorndal, Suzanne Brangham, Phyllis Carter, Susan Chew, Karen Collins, Patti England, Helen Fernandez, Jean Hopeman, Marcia Levy, Dr. Yolanda Mangrum, Elsa Nelson, Marcia Nelson, Barbara Nobles, Valerie Pistole, Rose Mary Schmidt, Jean Arnold Sessions, Carolyn Stone and Tina Wolfenden.

“These women, and so many others like them, are the heart and soul of the community,” said foundation Executive Director Harmony Plenty. “They work tirelessly and give endlessly for the benefit of everyone in Sonoma Valley. It is our great pleasure to invite the community to celebrate and thank them for all they do.”

Tickets to Celebration of Women are $100, and proceeds will benefit women’s health and wellness programs at Sonoma Valley Hospital.
