He graduated from the University of Kansas, and soon left Kansas to explore his horizons in California. Bart loved the Bay Area, especially San Francisco, and over the course of his life his work expanded from South Bay to Santa Rosa.

He was known as “Mr. San Francisco” to his friends in the loan business for many years. He started his 40-year career as an appraiser and advanced over the years to management. His ability to connect with people with such humanity led him to becoming known as a great guy to work with and a man of integrity and honesty. He touched many lives and helped a lot of people along their journey in life.

Bart loved music, especially The Grateful Dead and the Rolling Stones. He was an insatiable reader and craved intelligent conversation. He loved “Star Trek,” “Star Wars,” “Harry Potter” and all movies that encouraged the mind to “imagine.” Bart’s dream was to live in Kauai, fish with his buddy Jack and enjoy the “Aloha” spirit. He lived his dream.

Bart is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Jo Kort, of Kapaa, Kauai; his adored chihuahuas and cat: Pepe, Charro, and Minime. He is also survived by his sister, Stephanie Wilkinson her husband, Jerry, and his niece, Jennifer, and husband, Jason Theobald and niece, Michelle Wilkinson from Petaluma, and all the wonderful friends he made throughout his lifetime.

Celebration of Life will be at The Swiss Hotel, Sonoma on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m.
