Ash Wednesday

Wednesday was Ash Wednesday, which marked the beginning of Lent, a six-week period of prayer, penance and self-denial for Christians that ends on Easter Sunday. This year, Easter is Sunday, March 31. At St. Francis Solano Catholic Church on Wednesday, the Rev. Mike Kelly, front, and the Rev. David Galeana were dispensing ashes during the 8:30 a.m. Mass.
