Altimira girls volleyball makes it to league championships
Lorna Sheridan/Index-Tribune
For the first time in at least five years, the Altimira Middle School eighth-grade girls volleyball team made it all the way to the championship rounds of the North Coast League. The team of 11 girls, coached by school parent Danny Dwyer, was not able to bring home the pennant but their efforts were cheered on by the entire school (and a very proud principal Will Deeths) at a green and gold pep rally earlier this month. Pictured are the eighth-grade team members with Deeths: top row – Melissa Napoles, Leslie Molinar, Isabel Hernandez, Emily Greenslade, Nayeli Echeveria, Megan Brown, Daniela Ake and Hayden Pearce. Bottom row – Elizabeth Jaggie, Erin Atkinson and Shelby Decker.
