100 percent of death is caused by life
Editor, Index-Tribune:
In response to the gun control debate:
One hundred percent of food poisoning deaths are caused by food, so lets ban food?
One hundred percent of drownings are caused by water, so lets ban water?
One hundred percent of car deaths are caused by cars, so lets ban cars?
And the reductio ad absurdum of that premise might be that 100 percent of all death is caused by life, so why don’t we ban it?
And check out Mexico, where private gun ownership has been banned, yet they still have more gun deaths than the U.S. To say nothing of the official government violence and corruption that is part of what caused 10 percent of them to move here.

Phineas, your comment: “check out Mexico, where private gun ownership has been banned.”
Not true Phineas! Gun ownership is alive and well in Mexico, just well regulated.
Phineas, you said: “yet they still have more gun deaths than the U.S.”
Again Phineas, not true! Nobody beats America in the number of gun deaths per year, not even close; we’re number one!
I like your reductio ad absurdum comments; but don’t you agree they actually have more in common with reductio ad ridiculousum paradigms?
Thanks for the chuckle Tom.
Maybe people should have their background checked, be formally trained, and licensed to practice the first amendment!
Oh and by the way, the Tijuana US consulate says that guns are illegal in Mexico.
And I would have been more accurate to say that the death rate per capita is higher in Mexico.
I always appreciate the feedback!
Tom stated,"Not true Phineas! Gun ownership is alive and well in Mexico, JUST WELL REGULATED."
Well regulated????????? WOW!! That's realy working well
for Mexico isn't it. What a safe place to visit beacsue
of all that well regulated gun ownership. LOL!! Now
that is funny Tom.
The real question is how much authority does congress have to regulate gun ownership within the bounds of the 2nd amendment?
The Supreme Court has ruled on this issue several times and we still have gun ownership including what are erroneously called "assault" rifles!
We can argue all we want about the pros and cons of gun ownership but until the 2nd amendment is repealed, it's a waste of time!
I don't want it repealed nor will it be repealed in my lifetime!
It's also valid to remember the purpose of the 2nd amendment, which is not gun ownership for hunting, but for protection against a tyrannical government, which seems to be a more real threat each day!
