The winter issue of SONOMA magazine is now on newsstands with a cover story on Sonoma screenwriter Robert Kamen (of “Karate Kid” fame) and a fun focus on “Getting High over Wine Country” that features skydiving, hot air ballooning, a dirigible ride and aerobatic flights with 24-year-old flying school owner Travis Morton.

Readers will also find a meditative treatise on the importance of salmon and one man’s enduring passion for catching them.

There is, additionally, a tour of the stunning, almost historic Moon Mountain vineyards, home of Repris Wines, plus a guide to Wine Country romance; the favorite cocktails of battling bartenders; a rapid ride in an electric Tesla; Santé chef Andrew Cain’s mushroom magic; Daedalus Howell’s profile of Not-Mad Max, up-and-coming comedic talent and Sonoma native; Howell also enters the esoteric of his cratered mind to mull on mulled wine and The Miracle of Chris.

SONOMA magazine is published by the Index-Tribune and is distributed coast-to-coast and by subscription. Issues are available locally at the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau, Pharmica, Sonoma and Glen Ellen Markets, Readers’ Books, the Charles Creek Tasting Room, Proof’d, The Sonoma Index-Tribune and at Sonoma Valley hotels and inns, as well as in numerous luxury lodgings and more than 150 retail locations around the Bay Area and 1,000 outlets, including major bookstores, around the nation.
