Wine blending seminar set- EVENT CANCELED

Feb 20, 2012 - 11:18 AM

The Sonoma Community Center will hold its next Community Table culinary event on Saturday, Feb. 25, with a Cinq Cépages Blending Seminar and Reception. The evening will feature food and wine, including hors d'oeuvres and cocktails by Rocket Catering and a special opportunity to enjoy a blending seminar by Chateau St. Jean.

Guests will start the evening off with blood orange cocktails and a selection of hors d'oeuvres including dungeness crab and scallion cakes with bacon jalapeno mayo and tobiko, char-grilled crostini with braised short rib and parsley caper pesto, and polenta rounds stuffed with mushroom sugo topped with fontina cheese.

Chateau St. Jean Winemaker Margo Van Staaveren will then offer a unique Cinq Cépages Blending Seminar. Van Staaveren has seen over 30 harvests at the winery and is responsible for the final decisions involving blend and style that yield consistently high quality wines.

Under her guidance, guests will be invited to recreate the winery’s signature cinq cépages blend, learning to savor and combine the five varietals that go into its making.

Tickets are $55. To reserve a seat, drop by the community center office at 276 E. Napa St., phone 938-4626, ext. 1 or visit the Sonoma Valley Box Office at www.sonomacommunitycenter.org.
