William James Tyukodi
William James Tyukodi
William James Tyukodi passed away peacefully June 18, 2012, at the age of 88, in Sonoma.
He was born Dec. 12, 1923, to Mary Ann and Andrew Tyukodi in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Bill proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and Korea, performing many difficult underwater welding jobs. Upon completion of his military service, he attended UC Berkeley graduating with a degree in engineering. An avid outdoorsman, his personal passions were hunting and fishing. Many admired his fly fishing skills and hand-made flies.
A weather expert, he was able to tell next week’s weather just by looking at the clouds. Taking great pride in his vegetable garden, his swiss chard was the best in town. Bill was predeceased by his lifelong friend and mentor, Clifford Conly Jr. He leaves his beloved friend of many decades, Aileen Morgan, of Burlingame; his friend and hunting partner, William (Russ) Rusth Sr., Diamond Springs; and his devoted buddy, James Grasso, of Sonoma, with whom he cruised up and down the Napa, Petaluma and Russian rivers, always in pursuit of catching “the big one.” All who knew Bill will miss his quiet strength and gentle love, but will have many wonderful memories to enjoy.
At Bill’s request, no service will be held.
Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
