Whole Foods recently donated 5 percent of proceeds from one day’s sales to the Sonoma school gardens, and more than $2,250 was raised. The Sonoma Valley Foundation split the proceeds among each school’s garden coordinator, who received gift cards to local businesses to purchase supplies. Participating were Sonoma Mission Gardens, Friedman’s Home Improvement, Sonoma Materials, Wedekind’s and Sonoma Compost.
