Walter “Walt” Joseph Davis

Walter “Walt” Joseph Davis, 87, passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2012, in Spokane, Wash. He was born on June 14, 1925 in Pasadena, to Howard and Florence Davis. A few years later, the family moved to Sonoma where he and his two older brothers, Howard and Robert, attended local schools and made lifelong friends.

Walter joined the United States Navy in February of 1944 and while home on leave later that year, married his high school sweetheart, Grace Weyl. After his naval discharge, Walter and Grace moved to Boyes Hot Springs where they built a home and raised their two sons. They lived together in that home until Grace passed away in 1999.

Walter was a longtime employee of M. Brocco and Sons Trucking and retired form the company in 1988.

After living in Sonoma for more than 70 years, Walt moved to Washington State in 2000 and settled in Deere Park. He spent the remainder of his years there raising horses and looking out over the open space. He enjoyed leather crafting, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

Walter is survived by his sons, William (and wife, Suzanne) Davis, of Sonoma; and Donald (and life partner, Reed Beauchamp) Davis, of Boerne, Texas; his brother, Robert Davis, of Deer Park, Wash. He was the loving “Papa” to his grandchildren, Amy, Tyler, Sara and Matthew Davis; great-grandfather to MaKenna Davis. He was preceded death by his wife, Grace; and brother, Howard. Walt’s gentle and quiet nature will be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews.
