Valley wines clean up at State Fair

Hundreds of awards were handed out at the California State Fair’s Wine Competition, dozens of which were earned by Sonoma Valley wines and wineries. This list contains the best of class, double gold medal and gold medal winners. Get the complete, 109 page list of winners at bigfun.org.

  Acacia Vineyard received a gold medal for its 2010 Carneros pinot noir.

  Acorn received a gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2009 Russian River Valley cabernet franc.

  Alexander Valley Vineyards earned a gold medal and tied for Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2009 Alexander Valley merlot; and a gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2008 Alexander Valley syrah grenache viognier.

  Armida Winery received a gold medal for its 2010 Russian River Valley chardonnay; and a gold medal for in 2010 Dry Creek Valley zinfandel.

  B.R. Cohn won a gold medal for its 2010 Carneros chardonnay; a gold medal for its 2010 Russian River Valley pinot noir; and a gold medal, Best of Region North Coast Appellations and Best of Class North Coast Appellations for its 2009 Mendocino County barbera.

  Benziger Family Winery won a double gold medal, Best of California and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2007 Sonoma Valley cabernet sauvignon merlot blend.

  Biltmore Estate Wine Company won a gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2010 Alexander Valley cabernet sauvignon.

  Bryter Estates earned a double gold medal, Best of California and tied for Best of Class Napa Appellations for its 2009 Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon.

  Carol Shelton Wines earned a gold medal for its 2009 Alexander Valley zinfandel; and a gold medal for its 2008 Sonoma County zinfandel.

  Charles Creek Vineyard received a gold medal for its 2010 Sonoma Valley chardonnay.

  Christopher Creek Winery won a gold medal for its 2009 Russian River Valley zinfandel.

  Cline Cellars received a gold medal and Best of Class California Appellations for its 2010 California zinfandel; and earned a gold medal, Best of Region Greater Bay Appellations and Best of Class Greater Bay Appellations for its 2010 Contra Costa County mourvedre.

  Davis Bynum won a gold medal for its 2010 Russian River Valley chardonnay.

  Davis Family Vineyards earned a gold medal and tied for Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2009 Russian River Valley syrah.

  Francis Ford Coppola Winery won a gold medal and tied for Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its Dry Creek Valley syrah; and earned a gold medal and tied for Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its Sonoma Valley merlot.

  Geyser Peak Winery received a gold medal for its 2010 Sonoma County chardonnay.

  Gloria Ferrer Caves and Vineyards received a gold medal tied for Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its Sonoma County pinot noir and chardonnay; and earned a gold medal, Best of Region Sonoma Appellations and tied for Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2007 Carneros pinot noir and chardonnay.

  Gnarly Head received a gold medal and tied for Best of Class California Appellations for its 2010 California pinot noir.

  Hook and Ladder Winery received a double gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2009 Russian River Valley zinfandel, petite sirah, carignane, alliconte blend.

  Hughes Family Vineyards won a gold medal for its 2008 Sonoma Valley syrah.

  Imagery Estate Winery earned a double gold award for its 2008 cabernet sauvignon, malbec blend.

  Imagery Estate Winery won a gold medal for its 2008 Paso Robles lagrein.

  Jeff Gordon Cellars earned a gold medal for its 2009 Sonoma Coast pinot noir.

  Kenwood Vineyards received a gold medal for its 2011 California muscat canelli.

  Korbel Champagne Cellars won a double gold medal, Best of Region California Appellations and tied for Best of Class California Appellations for its California brut rose; the Korbel Champagne Cellars also earned a double gold medal for its California brandy. Korbel also won a gold medal for its 2009 Russian River Valley pinot noir and chardonnay blend, a gold medal for it California brut and a gold medal for its 2009 California brut.

  Lake Sonoma Winery earned a gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2009 Dry Creek Valley zinfandel.

  Landmark Vineyards earned a double gold award for its 2010 Sonoma County chardonnay.

  Laurier Vineyards earned a gold medal for its 2007 Los Carneros pinot noir, and received a silver medal for its 2010 Alexander Valley cabernet sauvignon.

  Lightheart Cellars won a gold medal for its 2010 Carneros pinot noir.

  Mark West Winery earned a double gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2010 Russian River Valley pinot noir; and won a gold medal for its 2010 Carneros pinot noir.

  Muscardini Cellars received gold medal for its 2009 Dry Creek Valley Syrah and a gold medal for its Sonoma Valley cabernet sauvignon, merlot blend.

  Pedroncelli Winery earned a double gold award and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2007 Dry Creek Valley blend.

  Plungerhead earned a double gold award for its 2010 Lodi zinfandel.

  Reata won a gold award for its 2010 Sonoma Coast pinot noir.

  Renwood Winery received a gold award for its 2010 Dry Creek Valley zinfandel.

  Robledo Family Winery won a gold medal, Best of Region Napa Appellations and Best of Class Napa Appellations for its 2009 Los Carneros pinot noir, and earned a gold medal for its 2009 Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon.

  Schug Carneros Estate Winery won a double gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2010 Carneros chardonnay.

  Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards earned a gold medal for its 2008 Russian River Valley chardonnay, as well as a gold medal for its 2009 Sonoma Coast chardonnay.

  Taft Street Winery received a gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2011 Russian River Valley sauvignon blanc.

  Trentadue Winery earned a double gold medal, Best of Region Sonoma Appellations and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2010 Alexander Valley petite sirah.

  Valley of the Moon Winery received a gold medal for its 2010 Carneros pinot noir; Valley of the Moon Winery also won a gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2010 Sonoma County pinot blanc; in addition, the winery received a gold medal and Best of Class Sonoma Appellations for its 2011 Sonoma Valley sangiovese.

  Villa Mt. Eden Winery earned a gold medal for its 2010 Sonoma Coast pinot noir.
