It’s postseason time for the Sonoma Valley High School varsity volleyball girls, who ended their regular season on the Sonoma County League road last Tuesday with a flourish – rallying from a two-set-to-one deficit to beat Petaluma in a dramatic five-set match to win their second straight SCL title.

This time, the Lady Dragons are the sole league champions after sharing the 2011 crown with both this year’s second-place Petaluma and third-place Analy, who will be joining them in the annual postseason SCL Tournament.

While third-seed Analy (16-9 overall record, 8-4 SCL) visits second-seed Petaluma (19-11, 10-2) for this evening’s opening round of the SCL Tourney, the top-seed Sonoma spikers (25-6, 11-1) will host fourth-seed Healdsburg (20-9, 7-5) in tonight’s 7 p.m. first-round matchup at Pfeiffer Gym.

The winners of tonight’s openers will play for the SCL Tournament championship at 7 p.m. this Thursday, Nov. 1, at the highest seed.

Comprising the SCL champion and tourney top-seeded Lady Dragons – directed by head coach Mindy Neves and assistant coaches Brittany Anderson and Michele Foster, and team manager Lily Shipiro – are seniors Allyson Beckwith and Alexis Long-Am; juniors Kaitlyn Boldt, Kayten Mak, Gianna Monterosso and Janeth Silva; and sophomores Anastasia Claros, Hannah Herrick, Ciara Smith and returning all-leaguers Mackenzie Albrecht and Delaney Swanson.
