Thanks from veterans tribute

Nov 12, 2012 - 03:03 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) had the opportunity to bring the Cost of Freedom Tribute to Sonoma for the week of Veterans Day, and we’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of the community for being so welcoming.

First and foremost, thanks to Post Commander Dan Parker and all members of VFW Bear Flag Post 1943 for sponsoring, planning and hosting the Cost of Freedom Tribute. Your support, hard work and dedication to these efforts were essential. We’d also like to thank the folks with the Sonoma Veterans War Memorial Building for providing a wonderful venue.

A big thank you goes out to Tom Garske for planning a terrific escort into town on Wednesday, and thanks to all the riders who assisted, along with local law enforcement, along the route. It was a great way to kick off things in Sonoma. To the Civil Air Patrol, the setup and teardown crews, the security volunteers and the locator volunteers – thank you for your selflessness and for volunteering to assist with the event. This event was so well planned, and the agenda was absolutely wonderful, with so many active duty, veteran, and fallen heroes honored.

Sonoma was truly a special event.

Thank you for welcoming us into your community and thank you for taking the time to honor our active duty, veteran, and fallen heroes. We very much look forward to coming back to Sonoma in the future.
