Temelec hooker suspect busted

A neighbor who thought something was awry, called the Sheriff’s Office about suspicious goings-on at a house on his block in Temelec.

The man’s hunch – after he saw a couple drive up to a house in the 20000 block of Temelec Drive, a young woman get out of the car and walk up to a house and the man reclined his seat and settled back almost out of view – turned out to be correct.

“All I could think of was a Craigs-List prostitute,” the neighbor said. “It was right out of central casting.”

The neighbor watched for a while, and talked to a couple of other neighbors before calling the Sheriff.

When deputies arrived, they found that the man in the car, 36-year-old Herman Derico of Santa Rosa, was a parolee. During a search of Derico’s vehicle, the deputies found a glass-smoking pipe.

The deputies asked what Derico was doing in Temelec, and he said he had dropped the young woman off so she could visit her uncle.

When the woman left the residence, the deputies asked her what she was doing, and she told them she came out to see a friend. The deputies then talked to the resident who told them yet a third story – he was helping her with her schoolwork.

The female, who turned out to be 18 years old, finally admitted she was a prostitute and met the man on a website.

The Temelec resident, who was notably nervous, eventually told the deputies that yes, he had “fun in bed” with the girl.

And he told deputies he paid $230 for the “fun.”

Both the alleged hooker and the Temelec resident were cited for prostitution while Derico was arrested on charges of a felony parole violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.
