Sonoma’s fall sports continue their 2012 preseason workouts
Spikers host scrimmage Tuesday; cross country alum meet set
While football practices have been under way for two weeks, Sonoma Valley High School’s six other fall sports programs – including girls’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ and girls’ water polo and girls’ tennis and golf – have started their workouts this week, or will begin next week.
Any student-athlete wanting to participate in Sonoma’s 2012 fall sports programs needs to have all her or his paperwork – including current mandatory physical examinations, proof of insurance, completed emergency cards, signed (student and parent) code of conduct forms and paid fees – completed before practicing.
Forms for athletic participation are available from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the SVHS student activities office.
The volleyball Lady Dragons are holding a mandatory meeting today at 6:30 p.m. in the Pavilion for all the girls who made the squads and their parents.
The Lady Dragon spikers will then scrimmage Casa Grande and Vintage at 6 p.m. this Tuesday, Aug. 21, and Thursday, Aug. 23, respectively, in Pfeiffer Gym, before the varsity team participates in the annual Napa Jamboree on Saturday, Aug. 25.
Sonoma’s cross country boys’ and girls’ teams continue to hold daily 3:30 p.m. workouts at SVHS, meeting near Golton Hall, and will hold their annual Cross Country Alumni Meet on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 p.m. on the Maxwell Farms Regional Park course.
All former cross country Dragons or Sonoma athletes, as well as any runner wanting to participate, is welcome and encouraged to arrive for check-in at 5:15 p.m.
