Now running at the collegiate level as a freshman at prestigious Yale University, Alex Conner, who graduated from Sonoma Valley High School in late May as a top scholar-athlete, received another accolade last week – being named to the All-Empire boys’ track and field first-team by The Press Democrat.

Conner’s standout 2012 spring season saw the Dragon win the Sonoma County League boys’ 3,200-meter title; take third-place in the event at the North Coast Section Redwood Empire Area Meet; and then earn a fourth-place medal, as well as break his own school record in 9 minutes, 25.42 seconds, at the NCS Meet of Champions, while also qualifying for the state meet.
