Since the Sonoma Valley High School varsity wrestling team opened the Sonoma County League dual-match season with two solid road wins over Analy and Petaluma, it was soundly defeated at Windsor last Tuesday, before finally getting the benefit of holding its first home match in its intimidating Golton Hall venue.
Unfortunately, last night’s SCL dual with visiting Casa Grande turned out to be neither a benefit or a home-mat advantage, with the Dragons falling behind early, and, unable to overcome their deficit, eventually dropped a 46-24 decision.
With a 2-2 SCL record, the Sonoma wrestlers now have the challenge of facing defending champion and current first-place Healdsburg, who they’ll host at 6 p.m. this Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Golton Hall.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 28, the varsity Dragons will compete in the Dusk-2-Dawn Tournament at Marin Catholic in Kentfield.
