Sonoma volleyball starts preseason action with scrimmage tonight
Dragon soccer boys, girls begin nonleague, cross country alum meet set
As Sonoma Valley High School football began 2012 with its annual preseason scrimmage last Friday, and starts the regular season by hosting nonleague Redwood at Arnold Field this Friday evening, Aug. 24, Sonoma’s boys’ and girls’ soccer, and girls’ volleyball programs will also kick off their seasons this week.
Playing nonleague soccer matches on the road tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 22, the Dragon boys battle at Windsor, while the Lady Dragons play Cardinal Newman in Santa Rosa.
Sonoma’s volleyball girls will host two 6 p.m. scrimmages in Pfeiffer Gym, with Casa Grande coming to town today, and Vintage arriving in the Valley this Thursday, Aug. 23.
The Lady Dragon spikers will then participate in the annual Napa Jamboree this Saturday, Aug. 25, before they open preseason action against nonleague University in San Francisco next Tuesday, Aug. 28, followed on Thursday, Aug. 30, with a road match at nonleague Justin-Siena in Napa.
Sonoma’s cross country boys’ and girls’ teams will hold their annual Cross Country Alumni Meet on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 p.m. on the Maxwell Farms Regional Park course.
All former cross country Dragons or Sonoma athletes, as well as any runner wanting to participate, is welcome and encouraged to arrive for check-in at 5:15 p.m.
