Sonoma thinclads to run in Saturday’s SCL meet

With third-place finishes in their Sonoma County League dual- and tri-meet regular seasons, Sonoma Valley High School’s cross country girls’ and defending co-champion boys will compete in the SCL championships on the Spring Lake course in Santa Rosa tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 3.

In wrapping up their regular-season meets recently, both the Dragon girls and boys posted tri-meet victories over El Molino and Elsie Allen with seniors Chris Tose and Gianna Biaggi winning their respective races.

Biaggi won the girls’ race with a time of 19 minutes, 27 seconds, followed by senior Hannah Cenci’s second-place in 19:39; senior Laura Amador’s fourth in 20:56; freshman Madeline Libbey’s fifth in 21:56; senior Serena Spry’s sixth in 21:37; junior Itzel Macedonio’s seventh in 22:56; and frosh Brianna Lehane’s 11th in 26:27.

Tose won the boys’ race in 16:21; followed by junior Christian Martinez’s second-place in 16:27; junior Owen Ljung’s fifth in 16:46; junior Keegan Ginter’s seventh in 17:07; senior Ryland Osborne’s 11th in 18:05; senior Peter Gray’s 12th in 18:09; frosh Ty Haury’s 14th in 18:26; senior A.J. Lemaire’s 15th in 18:27; sophomore Return Bongiovanni’s 16th in 18:39; senior Liam Casey’s 18th in 18:53; sophomore Ian Sloop’s 21st in 19:29; senior Greg Maggioncalda’s 23rd in 19:34; junior Trey Garcia’s 24th in 19:35; frosh Pablo Cruz’s 30th in 21:05; junior Bailey Zellers’ 32nd in 21:22; and frosh Austin Chapin’s 34th in 22:48.

Sonoma’s boys’ and girls’ varsity waterpolo teams recently completed their Redwood Empire League season.

Comprising the combined Dragon boys and girls’ squads – directed by first-year head coach Flynn O’Brien – were seniors Sebastian Amara, Mason Arrington, Ryan Barmore, Chase Campion, Wyatt Casella, Wyn Davis, Zoe Gaarder, Rose Greenberg, Aidan Lacy, Arthur Morgan, Sky Swanson, Weston Updegraff and Robert Woodworth; juniors Hannah Bates, Madeline Cline, Jimmy Flatt, Miles Hagin, Gabe Rapozo, Jesse Summers and Abby Van Kirk; sophomores Kaden Cable, Adam Curry, Caleb Horowitz, Ella Mighell and Rick Taggesell; and freshmen Joey Dukes, Sonia Kirkorian, Cian Lacy, Jack Lewis, Fabian Metelmann, Jacob Paine, Max Sheppard and Nathalie Vega.
