Posting another Sonoma County League victory in defense of their SCL co-championship, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity volleyball girls hosted longtime foe Petaluma last Thursday in Pfeiffer Gym and pounded their way to a four-set victory.
Then on Saturday, the Lady Dragons competed in the Concord Tournament and, after dropping their first match, which knocked them into the loser’s bracket, they battled back and claimed the tourney’s consolation title.
Sonoma’s set scores and statistics from both the Petaluma match and the Concord Tournament weren’t available at presstime, and will appear in this Friday’s, Oct. 5, Index-Tribune.
The Lady Dragons will next host another longtime SCL rival, El Molino, this Thursday night, Oct. 4, in Pfeiffer Gym, with the freshmen starting at 4, the junior varsity beginning at 5, and the varsity playing at 6:30 p.m.
Comprising Sonoma’s SCL co-defending champion volleyball team – directed by head coach Mindy Neves and assistant coaches Brittany Anderson and Michele Foster – are seniors Allyson Beckwith and Alexis Long-Am; juniors Kaitlyn Boldt, Gianna Monterosso, Amber Rose and Janeth Silva; and sophomores Mackenzie Albrecht, Anastasia Claros, Hannah Herrick, Kayten Mak, Ciara Smith and Delaney Swanson.
