Sonoma soccer boys split four in Bay Cities Invitational
Flynn-Garcia all-tourney; Dragons fall sports updates
Competing in the annual Bay Cities Invitational Friday and Saturday in Santa Rosa, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity soccer boys split four tournament matches and finished in sixth-place.
The Dragons beat Marin Catholic 1-0 in the opener, followed by a 2-0 victory over Rocklin, before dropping a pair of 1-0 decisions to Roseland Prep and Davis, respectively.
Sonoma senior Stephan Flynn-Garcia turned in a series of strong efforts and was named to the Bay Cities Invitational’s all-tourney team.
The Dragon boys continue nonleague play at Casa Grande tonight, before hosting Drake at 4 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 31, on the high school field.
Sonoma’s other fall sports nonleague action this week include the volleyball girls opening their season against University in San Francisco and Justin-Siena in Napa this Tuesday, Aug. 28, and Thursday, Aug. 30, respectively; and the soccer girls playing at Montgomery in Santa Rosa tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 29.
Starting their Sonoma County League campaign today are the Lady Dragon golfers, who will face Analy in Sebastopol.
As for Sonoma’s cross country boys’ and girls’ teams, they will hold their annual Cross Country Alumni Meet on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 p.m. on the Maxwell Farms Regional Park course.
All former cross country Dragons or Sonoma athletes, as well as any runner wanting to participate, is welcome and encouraged to arrive for check-in at 5:15 p.m.
