Sonoma grapplers will hit the mats

With the winter sports basketball campaigns completely underway,  Sonoma Valley High School’s wrestling program is ready to join the action and will open its 2012-13 season with the annual Novice Tournament, for junior varsity and first-year wrestlers, at Elsie Allen in Santa Rosa tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 1.

Then the varsity Dragon grapplers will host new Sonoma County League school Piner in a nonleague preseason dual-match, following the jayvee action at 6 p.m., this Wednesday, Dec. 5, in Golton Hall.

On Saturday, Dec. 8, the varsity Dragons will compete in the annual, and highly competive Golden Gate Classic at George Washington High School in San Francisco.

Also on tap for Sonoma’s varsity wrestlers in December are the Healdsburg Duals on Saturday, Dec. 15, and the annual, and challenging, Sierra Nevada Classic in Reno Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 26 to 28.
