Sonoma bocce wraps up summer league

Another competitive season of action in the popular and fast-growing Sonoma Bocce Ball Association recently came to a close with the conclusion of summer play in eight SBBA leagues at the courts in Depot Park.

In the Wednesday morning league, Nonchemale won behind team-captain Barbara Felder, co-captain Jim Hill, Ed Cebula, Barbara Westlake, Dave Graziani and Shirley Engelman.

Winning the Wednesday evening league on the heels of its victory in the spring league was the Sopranos team consisting of captain Ray Larbre, co-captain Pat Pulvirenti, Micki Goedewaaqgen, Ken McTaggart, Don Sjolund, Judi Orr and Lynne Joiner.

The Thursday morning league winner was I Ragazzi, comprised of captain Rosario Sapienza, co-captain Dave Whitmer, Adrian Conte, Jo Ann McMillan and Maureen Russell.

In the Thursday evening league, the winner was Pasta Power consisting of captain Don Levy, co-captain Russelle Johnson, Gail Calabrese, Joan Di Maggio, Norm Hoglievena, Jim Lavaroni, Clara McPherson and Margo Kosta.

Winning the Friday morning league were the Sonoma Chickens, comprised of captain Jerry Marino, Leo Sturm, Jeannie Claassens, John Shirley, Pam Vetrano and Ima Cripps.

The Friday evening league winners were the Depot Devils consisting of captain Suzanne Young, John Murphy, Alice Day, Alan Minkin, Lois Dorsey, Bob Stauder and Bobbie Albert.

In the Saturday morning league, Vinci Vinci Bevi was a repeat winner – also capturing the spring league – behind captain Rose Cardinalae, co-captain Jan Mandrell, Olga Cleary, Thom Lee, Peter Petroni and Lind Van Sliver.

Winning the Sunday evening league was Bocce Nostra, comprised of captain Bill Conte, Dorothy Ginocchio, Lynne Myers, Rosemary Haver, Bea Hanratty, Ron La Rosa and Mike Andrews.

Sonoma Bocce Ball Association is open to new membership to play in one of its eight weekly leagues taking place Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Leagues are currently underway, and anyone who would like to join the SBBA – the annual membership cost is $20 a person – can call (John) 938-2101 or (Ginette) 935-3337.
