‘Snow Maiden’ at the Sebastiani

Dec 6, 2012 - 03:43 PM

Under the guidance of the Sonoma Conservatory of Dance (formerly Sonoma Ballet Conservatory), the Russian winter classic “The Snow Maiden” dances into the Sebastiani Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 9, at 1 p.m.

Choreographed by Brooke Byrne of San Francisco’s Khadra International Dance Theatre, the ballet incorporates elements of Russian character dance and ethnic-inspired costumes. Special guest artist Evan Johnston of Coterie Dance Company performs as Lel, the shepherd boy who falls in love with the ethereal Snow Maiden, played by Sonoma's Natalie Anderson. They are joined by dozens of dancers from the conservatory including Elizabeth Eagles as the Frost Fairy; Angelica Griggs-Demmin as the Ice Princess; Olivia Cole, Isabel Falls, Natalie Palmgren and Siobhan O'Reilly as the Four Winds; Emma Phelps as the Snow Queen and Anika Ljung as the Firebird.

Reserved tickets are on sale now at the conservatory and the Sebastiani Theatre.  Tickets are $22 for adults, $17 for students with I.D. and seniors (62 and up) and $12 for children (12 and under).  Call 938-1424 or 996-9756 for reservations.

The Sebastiani Theatre is located at 476 First St. E.
