Sisters open Asher Market wholesale business here

Ashley and Erin Hayes, sisters born and raised in Texas and living in San Francisco, one an attorney, the other a psychologist, last year decided on a major career change, and have opened Asher Market, a wholesale artisan business specializing in aprons and cotton and alpaca blankets, with headquarters in Sonoma.

Before they made it their business, the sisters started making aprons as Christmas presents for their family and friends.  Everyone got an apron that first year (2010).  While Erin left the US to travel to South America in January 2011, Ashley kept busy making aprons and other wares.  By May of that year, Ashley opened up a booth at a local artist’s market in Santa Barbara and started selling all of her creations. Erin returned from South America lugging an enormous bag of beautiful cotton/alpaca blankets she found while traveling through Peru.  As the summer went on, the sisters decided to combine their efforts and work towards a common goal: Asher Market.
For the remainder of 2011, Ashley and Erin honed their creative talents turning Asher Market into a lifestyle design brand.

They designed a line of aprons rather than one-of-a-kind creations (although they still do custom work).  The unique color and pattern combinations set Asher Market aprons apart from the rest of the apron market. The aprons are reminiscent of the sisters’ personalities as well as the tradition of the apron in the home.  As a final touch, the sisters added a heart pocket to send along the love they put into each apron.

The aprons are designed with love in Sonoma and manufactured in San Francisco. Each of the alpaca blankets is hand-woven in Peru.

Locals may see and purchase their products via their website, www.ashermarket.com, and the aprons can be found in the Deli at the Carneros Inn in Sonoma, while Sonoma Home carries their cotton/alpaca blankets.
