Sawyer an ag leader

Oct 25, 2012 - 04:36 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

Agriculture is truly the foundation of our community. John Sawyer understands the importance of preserving Sonoma County’s farms and vineyards through upholding the “Right to Farm Ordinance.” This will ensure that our farmers can continue to produce and sell their goods at competitive prices.

I find it offensive that Susan Gorin moved into the district from her large, luxurious home in Fountaingrove, and registered to vote just six days before taking out papers for supervisor. She is district shopping and is unfamiliar with our local economic needs in the Valley.

Sonoma County’s farms and vineyards don’t just hold a traditional significance, but also represent the economic backbone of our community. Families and the local economy are dependent on the revenue produced through working our nutrient-rich soil. Sawyer wants to make sure that our farms, ranches and vineyards are protected and successfully guided through conservation practices.

John Sawyer has earned the endorsement of the Sonoma County Farm Bureau because he is committed to ensuring the stability of our agricultural community. He is looking out for the wellbeing of the farmer, the beauty of our land and the economic permanence of agriculture. A vote for John Sawyer is a vote for protecting agriculture.
