Save Our Sports fundraiser set

The Altimira and Adele middle schools, Save Our Sports (or SOS) fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Larson Family Winery, 23355 Millerick Road in Sonoma.

  Due to current budget cuts, all sports programs at the middle schools including soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and wrestling have been cancelled for next year, unless money can be raised to save them. The SOS event is a combined effort by Adele Harrison and Altimira middle schools to raise funds, so that the community can keep these valuable programs in the schools.

  Sports help kids to make friends, build confidence, and stay in shape. Studies show that playing sports at a young age can create many other building blocks for success for students.

  This is a casual, adults-only event. A full buffet of tacos with carne and pollo asada, salad, rice, beans, and a cash bar for beverages will be offered. Tickets are $35 a person.

  For dessert, Karla Conroy, Adele principal, and Will Deeths, Altimira principal, will be running a cake auction, where the different coaches provide a cake, and individuals have a chance to bid on them. There will be music and an opportunity to bid on items such as an instant wine collection, a vacation rental in Tahoe, and much more.

  Purchase tickets in advance at Altimira or Adele’s main office, or from the main office of any SVUSD elementary school.
