SVGC tees it up at Eagle Vines

The Sonoma Valley Golf Club is beginning to wrap up its season.

On Oct. 9, the SVGC event at the Eagle Vines course in Napa saw Matt Marioni take home the top spot in the First Flight with a 71 from the white tees (w), followed by Cony Gustafsson second-place 72, with Jerry VanWallinga’s 72 giving him third in a card-off.

The Second Flight, played from the gold tees (g), saw Wayne Petersen catch fire with a 65 for first-place, while both Ross Martin and Jim Honeywell carded 66s and settled for second and third, respectively.

Playing from the red tees (r), Charles Avery won the Third Flight with a 68, while Tom Reynolds was in second-place with a 69, and Jack Kearney’s 70 gave him third.

In closest-to-the-pin action, Marioni’s (w) tee-shot from the sixth was a winner after stopping 11 feet 2 inches from the hole, while Dave Voepel (g) and Ron Macaluso (r) were the best in their flights at 7-feet each from the pin. 

Jim Schnabel (w) joined the winner’s circle on No. 8, with his ball stopping 9-9 away from the hole, while Kit Wood (r) to a closest-to at 34-7, with no one from the gold tees hitting the green.

Schnabel (w) doubled-up in the win column at 18-9 on the 12th, while Dan Stites (g) and John Murphy (r) were winners at 13-2 and 11-5, respectively.

VanWallinga’s (w) shot to 7-6 was the best on the 15th, with Bob Leal (g) also taking home a prize at 25-6, while the shot of the day belonged to Eloi Delagnes (r) at 1-7.
