SR film fest to salute vets
The Santa Rosa International Film Festival, hosted by Glen Ellen resident Justine Ashton, will run from Sept. 12 to 23, mostly at venues in Santa Rosa, with a few events at Deerfield Ranch Winery.
Within the larger festival, Ashton has organized “Vet Fest,” with a focus on veterans. The main event takes place Sept. 16, beginning with a parade at noon at Santa Rosa City Hall. Vets who want to be in the parade should call Herb Williams at 527-0190. At 1:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. at the Glasser Center, the festival will screen “Long Ride Home” about Staff Sgt. Jesse William, who died in Iraq in 2007.
There are 100 free tickets per show for veterans and their family members, obtainable by calling Herb Williams at 527-0190. General admission is $15.
