SR Film Fest gets under way

Sep 13, 2012 - 03:00 PM

Deerfield Ranch Winery in Kenwood will be one of the venues of the Santa Rosa International Film Festival, which runs Sept. 12 to 25.

Some of the highlights include the China/Taiwan Celebration on Friday, Sept. 14, at Deerfield Ranch Winery. Sponsored by the Redwood Empire Chinese Association, the evening includes the family oriented film “Starry Starry Night,” a Lion dance and Tai Chi demonstration by the Wu Academy. Admission is $5 for children under 15, $10 for seniors and students or $12.50 for adults.

“Vet Fest” celebrates veterans and takes place Sept. 16, beginning with a parade at noon at Santa Rosa City Hall. Vets who want to be in the parade should call Herb Williams at 527-0190. At 1:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. at the Glasser Center, the festival will screen “Long Ride Home” about Staff Sgt. Jesse

William, who died in Iraq in 2007.

There are 100 free tickets per show for veterans and their family members, obtainable by calling Williams at 527-0190. General admission is $15.

Previously the Wine Country Film Festival, the Santa Rosa International Film Festival is run by Glen Ellen residents Stephen and Justine Ashton. For more details on the festival and passes, visit sriff.org.
