Running for education

El Verano Elementary School students, staff and parents jogged 9,650 laps around a 30-meter track in 45 minutes to raise money. The money will be used for field trips for kindergarteners through third grades while the money raised by the fourth- and fifth-graders will be used for their outdoor education programs. Preliminary figures show the joggers raised almost $14,000. Joggers made the rounds on two separate tracks, one for the older students and another for younger students.
